About SVG Maker AI
SVG Maker AI turns a text prompt or an uploaded PNG/JPG into an SVG file, and gives you a browser editor to fix what comes back. It is one of 18 products from the PostMCP AI family — the “by PostMCP AI” line under the logo links to all of them, and the same small team builds and runs each one. See the other products.
How a generation works
Generation runs on our server through third-party AI models. This is the pipeline as the code runs it.
- 01
Prompt
A language model rewrites your prompt into a detailed brief for a vector model.
- 02
Upload
For an uploaded PNG or JPG (up to 10 MB), a vision model looks at the image and writes a description of it instead. The image is processed in memory and not kept.
- 03
Draw
A third-party vector model draws a new SVG from the brief. Both models are reached through OpenRouter.
- 04
Clean
Our server extracts the <svg> element, adds a viewBox and xmlns if they are missing, removes embedded raster images and runs SVGO to strip metadata and shorten numbers.
- 05
Save
The file is saved to your workspace (our database and Cloudflare R2), and only then is the credit taken — a failed generation costs nothing.
What runs in your browser
Not everything touches our server. These run on your machine; saving a file to your workspace still does.
- The editor: markup beside a live canvas, with export to SVG, PNG, a data URI or a React component.
- The SVG optimiser: the file is not uploaded and no credit is spent.
- Icon Studio: renders the PNG sizes for each platform and zips them on your machine.
The limits
Worth knowing before you spend a credit.
- An uploaded image is redrawn from a description, not traced. Expect simplified shapes and colours, not a pixel copy of the original.
- The same prompt can give a different SVG each time, so save the one you like — a later run may not reproduce it.
- Exports are SVG, PNG, data URI and React. There is no PDF, EPS or AI export.
- PNG export is capped at 1024 px on the long edge — too small for large prints at 300 DPI. Export the SVG for print.
- The editor has no boolean, offset-path or weld operations.
- A free account has 1 credit. A standard generation costs 1 credit and the premium model costs 2.
